Two albums in one year?! Cassper is ready to take back the music industry.

It wasn’t that long ago that the multi-award winning rapper was dropping his long-awaited #AMN (‘Any Minute Now’) album, breaking a two-year-long hiatus.

In fact, he released the album at the end of 2020 and now less than a year later, he surprised fans with another one!

Cassper might be signing R100-million sneaker deals and throwing punches these days, but he has been finding time to head to the studio in between all that.

He has been dropping hints that he was working on new music but no one could have expected a whole entire album this soon after his last release. Although there are no complaints from us.

This week, he did catch fans off guard when he revealed that he had another announcement on its way and while many anticipated another major non-music-related deal, everyone was pleasantly surprised when he said he would be releasing the second instalment to his ‘Sweet and Short’ series.

And at midnight last night, he dropped ‘Sweet and Short 2.0’.

Cassper has long said that he has wanted to branch more into the amapiano genre and that is exactly what fans and music lovers can expect from this album.

This is an experimental project where I’m taking an authentic South African sound and having fun. I’ve always been about authenticity, so this is right in my lane – Cassper Nyovest

The album features ten tracks and multiple collaborating artists, including: Samthing Soweto, Ma Lemon, Thulz, Zuma, DJ Sumbody, Reece Madlisa, Lady Du, Kammu Dee, and Semi Tee.

He also spoke to Apple Music about the collaborations on the body of work. His method of choosing artists for certain song collabs is quite unconventional, unique, and pretty interesting:

Abidoza and I started making music, then heard other people’s voices on these songs. We would play them all the music we had and they’d pick the songs they wanted to be on. That’s why I love amapiano so much—collaboration is so important to the genre. – Cassper Nyovest

We’ve never heard of another artist using this method but it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Cassper is bringing his creative edge to every aspect of this album.

You can stream the album here.
